November has came to an end. It was National Diabetes Month to honor those who deal with this disease each day. Others like myself have a lot to deal with when it comes to this disease and then a lot of us also have other diseases as well, along with the diabetes. I will always try to educate and bring awareness to others on what I have to go through and hopefully it will help others to understand or learn more in case they find themselves in the same situation. I was apparently misdiagnosed over ten years ago with type 2 diabetes but without too much to go on at the time, I'm not upset about it. But it never made sense to me why I was dealing with high A1C's with no other symptoms. But without any knowledge at the time, I just did as the PCP recommended and took the medication that was given to me until I had my first Endo appt back on my birthday in September and was put on insulin and was told that I was instead dealing with type 1.5 which is basically adult type 1. Type 1 (Juvenile ) or 1.5 (Adult) onset diabetes is Autoimmune unlike type 2. And those of us who have certain genes that are associated with autoimmune diseases are predestined or prone to possibly develop an autoimmune disease or several. So far I have type 1 diabetes and Celiac along with Meniere's Disease which is a possible non official autoimmune disease that hasn't been classified as one yet. And at the time of my Celiac diagnosis I was also told I had non alcoholic fatty liver disease which I assumed was caused by Celiac but no, I have since discovered that diabetes is a culprit and particularly type 1. But Celiac probably was a culprit with my gallbladder issues. If anyone has any questions about diabetes or autoimmune diseases then feel free to message me or comnent on this blog.
