C**** V**** Part 2 story continued
Continued from Part 1
My visit to the Doctor about my ear, was not a pleasant one at all as I was saying in part 1 (if you have read that yet). So during that time I went to be seen, when patients(pts) arrived to be seen they would separate the sick pts from the ones who had appointments. They also would screen each of the pts coming into the facility to determine where you would sit to wait to be seen. They had a "sick" waiting area and then the regular waiting area for pts not there for sick related appointments
I honestly can not remember if I had called ahead for an appointment that particular day or not, Because you now have to call for an appointment even if you are a walk in patient, but anyhow I was there and I honestly didn't feel like I had anything contagious any longer since a good three weeks or so had passed since I was positive for Covid so I didn't really think of it as a "sick" visit but then it wasn't a follow-up or routine visit either. So I didn't care where they really seated me that day just as long as I got to be seen is all that mattered to me. I just needed to know what was causing my hearing loss, ear stuffiness and that annoying constant noise in my ear.
When I arrived, I informed the screener at the main entrance door that I had been positive for Covid three weeks prior but that I was out of quarantine and had been for several days at that point. It had been at least 10 days or so that I had been out. So, they had me sit in the regular waiting room and not the sick one. Their choice, not mine.
I didn't know that would be such a big deal however and that I would be scolded for it once I got back to be seen. But boy did I sure find out in a hurry that it was. Let me explain....
I will not mention names but will only refer to the provider that day as NP (nurse practitioner). And, just to clear things up. I've never in my life so far have had any issues with any other provider before. Definitely not any other NP or any Providers at all. Also, I had never even met this particular NP before this day. And I sure made up my mind by the time the visit was done, that I would never waste my time seeing this particular NP ever again.
I was called from the waiting room not long after I arrived, The nurse took me to the room and did her usual interview to find out what was going on, etc... And then within minutes of her leaving the room, the NP walked in and immediately started blasting me about not informing the staff when I arrived, that I had Covid, and that I should have told them up front that I did have it. The NP continued spouting on with other false accusations like insinuating that I was still Covid positive and that I could infect the entire staff and that I was basically wasting theirs and my time by coming there because I probably had long haul Covid even though my complaint that I was there for that day was with my ear, and it was probably harder to spread germs from my ear versus nose, mouth or hands, but that I was basically disrespectful for coming there for the reason that I did.
After listening to all of this from this NP, and mind you that she never once introduced herself to me when she entered the room, before she went into spouting all of this off to me from the get go, she finally let me get a word in edgewise yet, she still shot down everything that I was trying to tell her to defend myself. When she first started making the accusations though, I started sliding closer to the end of the exam table and was going to walk out and go elsewhere but something told me to wait it out and let her finish getting her words out and then hopefully I would have a chance to talk. Plus I think I was just honestly in a little bit of shock of the way she was acting towards me.
Even though, I was trying to explain the reason I was there and that I really did not feel like I was still contagious she continued to give me lame reasons on why she assumed I was. But also added to the reasons that more than likely with the issues being with my ear that I wasn't technically contagious but I could be. She even took the time to actually examine my ears but then stated that my ears looked just fine and that they were clear and didn't even have any earwax at all in them. In other words I guess she was suggesting that all of this was in my head and I was crazy for even trying to be seen for it and that I wasting everyone's time. But I definitely wasn't giving in. I wanted answers and to hopefully be able to save my hearing and restore it if possible.
However after all of that hoop-la, she did finally give me what I really wanted, if they were not able to figure out what was wrong with my ear and that was a referral to an ENT. Which was what I was going to ask for if it was not suggested first.
All I could say about this visit is that I have never in my life or hope to ever have to deal with a visit and a Provider like that again. It is a good thing that I don't lose my temper very quickly, because someone would have had a busted lip that day. And it wouldn't have been me. But I kept my cool regardless.
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog just as much as I enjoyed writing it and I will continue my story about my visit to the ENT and the diagnosis that I received from them.
It will be titled ENT visit and may be in more than one part. It depends on how much I end up sharing on that. Which I feel like will end up being just as lengthy as the story leading up to it.
P.S. Oh, and in case you are wondering if I reported this NP, I did not. I was told not long after that visit, that she was leaving that facility so I just didn't bother.
